Delays in the revision of the Federal Data Protection Act

It was originally planned that the totally revised Swiss Data Protection Act (DPA) would enter into force a few months after the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR). Now the Political Institutions Committee of the National Council has decided to stagger the total revision of the DPA in two stages. The first step is to discuss the adjustments that will have to be implemented under the Schengen Framework. The total revision of the DPA and thus possible adjustments for data processing in the private sector will only be dealt with afterwards. The consequences of these delays are not yet clear.
